Hey! I'm Alice Mawdsley
An U.K illustrator currently based in Barcelona. I studied illustration at Falmouth University, where my reportage work was longlisted for the World Illustration Awards. I enjoy projects that explore different cultures, everyday life, architecture, and food. My work often focuses on reportage illustration, collaborating with communities during my travels to create colorful drawings and screen prints that share the stories of the people I meet. I hope to use illustration to give others a voice while highlighting the everyday similarities that connect us all.

BEGINNER COURSE: Foundations of Drawing on Location & Natural Scenes
Start your journey with the essentials. You’ll discover the tools, materials, and simple techniques that will form the backbone of your sketching practice. Learn how to see the world with fresh eyes as you practice basic shapes, perspective, and textures. Explore natural scenes, from trees and plants to landscapes, and learn how to create depth and atmosphere through line, shading, and selective use of color. By the end of this course, you’ll feel confident sketching outdoors and documenting your surroundings in a way that feels both fun and achievable.
INTERMEDIATE COURSE: Color, Composition & Everyday Life on Location
Once you’re comfortable with the basics, it’s time to expand your skills. In this course, you’ll dive deeper into color theory and discover how to use palettes to set mood, evoke atmosphere, and add life to your drawings. You’ll strengthen your grasp of perspective and composition, learning how to arrange elements on the page to create balance and impact. Together, we’ll tackle architecture simplifying complex structures, capturing light and shadow, and then move to the lively café and market scenes, sketching people, gestures, and crowds with speed and confidence. You’ll also practice interiors and still life, developing an eye for storytelling and detail.
ADVANCED COURSE: Finding Your Voice & Expressive Illustration
This is where your creativity truly takes flight. In the advanced course, you’ll go beyond technique to explore personal expression, improvisation, and developing your own artistic voice. You’ll practice drawing under constraints, speed, limited tools, unexpected environments to push your creativity and adaptability. Then, we’ll deepen your figure drawing skills and take on complex environments with confidence. You’ll experiment with expressive mark-making, create patterns, and learn to tell stories through comics and sequential art. Finally, you’ll bring it all together with zine illustration and personal portfolio projects, creating finished pieces that showcase not just your skills, but your unique perspective as an artist.
COURSE STRUCTURE
This video provides a glimpse into what all the bundle videos, and additional materials look like.
All three courses are divided into several sections, containing the more than X video lessons and practical exercises. I recommend watching the sessions in order, as the courses offer a sequential and logical learning path.
Remember that you can always go back and watch the lessons as often as needed.
All videos are in FULL HD and you can adjust the speed, audio and quality.
In all my videos, I use a variety of visual elements, such as images, diagrams, and sketches, to enhance your learning experience. You'll also see me speaking directly to you, making the lessons engaging and interactive.
